Background on Antisoma
Based in London, UK, Antisoma is a biotechnology company specialising in the development of novel drugs for the treatment of cancer.
Antisoma fills its development pipeline by acquiring promising new drug candidates from internationally recognised academic or cancer research institutions. The Company’s core activity is the preclinical and clinical development of these drug candidates.
Antisoma has a diverse portfolio of drugs in development. These products are designed to target tumours by unique mechanisms and are intended for the treatment of a range of cancers.
Antisoma’s most advanced drug, ASA404 (formerly AS1404, DMXAA) was licensed to Novartis in April 2007 in a deal worth USD 890 million in upfront, development, regulatory and sales-related milestone payments to Antisoma.
Antisoma expects to take most of its drugs through development itself, and to be involved in commercialising them in at least some countries, including the United States, which is the world’s biggest market for cancer drugs. In some cases, Antisoma will form partnerships with larger pharmaceutical companies for development and/or commercialisation.
Antisoma was founded in 1988 and its shares are traded on the London Stock Exchange. Antisoma is based at offices in London and Boston, MA.
